Her novel 'Fluttering Heights,' won her acclaim and her activism has won her many critics. She is the founder of the Maritime Suffragette Assoc of Seafaring Birds, in which position she protested for fair wages by enduring a hunger strike. For 6 weeks she ate only fish and chips, and bread crusts.
